The UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura announced the reasoning behind his plans to resign in November, while speaking to reporters in New York City on Wednesday.
De Mistura, who spent more than four years in the role, explained: “I’ve been always indicating to the Secretary General my plans for personal reasons, which is not health, it’s family, basically. So, no speculation on that. I’m touching wood: I’m fine and I’m not even tired, because this has been giving me a lot of adrenaline, this type of mission.”
