Macedonia’s fate “hangs” on by nine votes

The Assembly (Parliament) of Macedonia today will consider the proposal of the Government on constitutional amendments, in particular, on the new name of the country.

80 votes are needed to take a decision. The ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Zoran Zayev has 71 deputies.

On the eve, deputies from the ruling party and the opposition tried to convince each other of the benefits and harms of the Prespan agreement with Greece.

Recall that the ratification of the agreement on changing the name of the country to “Northern Macedonia” opens the way for Macedonia to the EU and NATO.
