USA: Trump confirms pastor Brunson ‘now free from jail’

US Pastor Andrew Brunson “went through a lot, but he is on his way back,” US President Donald Trump said at a ‘Make America Great Again’ rally in Lebanon, Ohio, on Friday.

“He is now free from jail and he is in the air heading to Germany, where he’ll get off for a brief check and then he’s coming to Washington DC tomorrow and we’ll say hello to him,” Trump said.

The pastor, who was convicted of aiding terrorism after the 2016 coup attempt in Turkey, was released from Turkish custody on Friday.

The president commented on the destruction of ‘vicious’ Hurricane Michael. “That was a devastating power that hit among the most powerful hurricanes ever to hit our country. But they’ll rebuild, they’re strong, they’re great people,” he stated.

Trump also talked about his meeting with rapper Kanye West, saying “what he did was pretty amazing yesterday. And you know who else was with him, a guy you know well, big Jim Brown.”
