Until the end of this year, the number of countries recognizing the independence of the self-proclaimed “Republic of Kosovo” will be less than a hundred, said Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić. The Belgrade politician also warned that the frozen conflict in this territory could lead to another persecution against the Serbs, as well as to a deterioration of relations at the international level.
At the same time, Dacic recalled the “Croatian scenario” if the Albanian military forces had occupied the north of Kosovo and Metohija with the connivance and support from the West.
“In this case, Serbia will face a serious question: what to do. To defend the Serbs, to come into direct conflict with Kfor, NATO – this means that the confrontation will expand. If the confrontation comes, who can Serbia rely on? to Russia? “, – the Serbian minister asked the question.

Recently, in the framework of the Kosovo crisis, the question of the number of countries that truly recognize the independence of the self-proclaimed region is acute. Several countries have officially announced the cancellation of their recognition. It also became known that the authorities in Pristina are increasing the number of countries that have recognized their independence, including on the list of small states that have not actually accepted such a document.
Kosovo unilaterally announced separation from Serbia in 2008. According to the Constitution of Serbia is an autonomous region within that country.
