Germany: Protester injured in fall as Hambach evictions continue

Police continued to evict environmental activists from Hambach forest on Thursday.

Police used cranes and climbers to retrieve high-up protesters.

One young woman fell six metres from a treehouse as she stepped onto a ladder from a treehouse. Doctors treated her immediately.

Earlier this month a journalist died after falling from a bridge suspended between two treehouses

The occupation of the forest began in 2012, when a group of activists decided to fight against the expansion of energy company RWE’s open-pit coal mine, which is one of the largest in Europe.
