Moldova’s Dodon dismisses his suspension as ‘illegal’

Moldovan President Igor Dodon has sharply criticized the decision of the Constitutional Court (Constitutional Court), which on Monday suspended him from his post.

“By its decision to suspend from office the President of the Republic of Moldova, legitimately elected by direct vote of citizens, the Constitutional Court allowed double lawlessness: brought to nothing my attempt to stop a serious violation of the law, and allowed that this violation was committed by the so-called acting president,” – wrote Dodon on his Facebook page.

The president believes that the Constitutional Court neglected legitimate arguments, which the head of state cited in support of his non-signing of the decree on the appointment of two new ministers – health and agriculture.

“And in this regard, I want to recall the following: Why can not Mrs. Sylvia Radu ( candidate for the post of Minister of Health – IF ) be appointed Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection.” Article 8, paragraph 4, of the law on public office and the status of the state the employee shall be: “In order to replace the highest managerial public office, a person must meet, in aggregate, the following requirements:” (a) To comply with the conditions provided for in Article 27; b) have a higher education, confirmed by a diploma of a licentiate or an equivalent education document; c) have worked in the specialty / profile of the relevant public office for at least five years; d) have at least two years of management experience, “said Dodon.

Dodon also said that Nikolai Chubuk, proposed for the post of Minister of Agriculture, does not meet the criteria for incorruptibility. “Representatives of the authorities are well aware of the criminal violations committed by him, but they insist on his appointment to this important post anyway.” I regret that instead of stopping serious violations committed by the authorities, the Constitutional Court gives a “green light” to their continuation. once again raises big questions about the professionalism and independence of the Constitutional Court judges, “the president said.

“The authorities and the institutions they control simply do not realize the seriousness of their actions and their consequences, but sooner or later they will have to answer for all these violations, they will respond with all the rigor of the current law, which they now shamelessly violate, promoting their narrow party interests, “Dodon stressed.

The COP of Moldova removed Dodon from the post of president. This is the fourth time when the Constitutional Court temporarily deprives Dodon of the powers of the head of state, transferring them to the speaker of the parliament and the prime minister. In three cases, the suspension sought to sign decrees on the appointment of new ministers and take their oath, and in one case, the signing of a law banning Russian propaganda in Moldova, which prohibited the broadcasting of political, analytical and military television programs from the Russian Federation on the territory of the republic.
