Iranian President Hassan Rouhani accused the United States of wanting to cause insecurity in Iran, a day after an attack on a military parade killed at least 25 and injured 60, in the southwestern city of Ahvaz.
Speaking from Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, on Sunday, before leaving for New York City to attend the UN General Assembly, Rouhani accused the US of allowing its Gulf Arab allies to dispense financial and military support to armed anti-government groups in Iran.
“All these little mercenary countries that we see in this region have the backing of the United States. It is the Americans who are agitating them. It is the Americans who are providing them with the required circumstances to commit such crimes,” Rouhani said.
