Armenia: PACE drew attention to political persecution organized by Pashinyan

The revolutionary Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan nevertheless achieved his goal and attracted the attention of the European Union, but, unfortunately, not as he would have liked. This was stated by the head of the Armenian delegation to PACE, the vice-speaker of the parliament Arpine Hovhannisyan on her official Facebook page.

According to her, the Parliamentary Assembly intends to analyze the situation in the country on observing the rights of the legislative and judicial authorities, separately noting the political persecution that became the norm in the Pashinyan’s “new Armenia”.

According to Hovhannisyan, the Commission on Political Affairs and Democracy will consider the issues of “exerting pressure on the freedom of speech, an unprecedented surge and popularization of rhetoric of hatred, criminal cases brought against the second president [Robert Kocharyan], former officials and members of their families, possible changes to the Constitution as lever, ensuring the extension of the term of the Prime Minister’s tenure at his post, pressure on the legislative and judicial power. “

The parliamentarian also stressed that she provided the commission with all the necessary materials confirming the aggressive policy of Nikol Pashinyan.
