The office of the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan made a statement in connection with the scandalous audio recording of the conversation between the director of the National Security Service and the head of the SSS
The statement, in particular, says:
“As is known, today, on September 11, a clip with an audio recording of the telephone conversations of the director of the National Security Service and the head of the SSS on the case of” March 1 “appeared on the network, in particular, it was about the arrest of Robert Kocharian and CSTO Secretary General Yury Khachaturov . Based on the content of the conversations, it is necessary to state several important circumstances, of which we have repeatedly stated:
1. Concerning Robert Kocharyan, political persecution is carried out, which is directly directed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The conversation between the director of the National Security Service and the head of the SSA leaves no doubt about this.
2. Judging by the audio recordings, initially the goal was not to disclose the “March 1” case and find the guilty, but only to arrest (as the interlocutors put it “to close”) President Kocharian, which is a classic example of a political vendetta.
3. The judge of the first instance who decided to arrest was under severe pressure from the authorities and took an illegal decision dictated to him from above.
4. The measure of restraint in respect of Robert Kocharian and Yuri Khachaturov was elected with the direct consent of Nikol Pashinyan. Initially, the head of the SSS agreed (the arrest), and then the director of the National Security Service (bail).
All this is a crime with the participation of high-ranking officials. After the announcement of the audio record of the announcement of the Prime Minister, as well as the head of the NSS and the head of the CAS, no more than unsuccessful attempts to justify themselves.
There is no need to comment on the shameful content of the conversations, and the talk that “evil forces” are trying to discourage “good forces” in their heroic fight against corruption through the dissemination of such records is simply absurd in this context.
It is important to emphasize that these telephone conversations not only reveal some episode associated with a particular case, but the whole essence of the current regime, the real face of the acting authorities. People who scream from morning till night about love and tolerance, non-interference in justice, act with accuracy and vice versa, deceiving and misleading the public. People who talk about democracy in the most brutal way violate democratic freedoms and human rights.
I consider it necessary to emphasize the following: it is clear from the statement of the Prime Minister, the Director of the National Security Service and the Head of the SSS that, seeing that through a falsified case it is impossible to arrest Kocharyan and remove him from the political field, and also making sure that talk of illegal enrichment and mythical Kocharyan’s condition does not correspond to reality, the authorities resorted to a new method, saying that Kocharyan’s family was laundering money.
What these statements are worth, which are made by the participants of known telephone conversations, let the public decide. But it is obvious that the political persecution of President Kocharian continues and enters a new phase.
We call upon all our compatriots and friends to soberly assess the situation, the style of work of the authorities, to break the propaganda veil and not allow Armenia from a democratic state to become a country ruled by amateurs on the basis of the principles of Bolshevism and where political repression is encouraged. “
