Yemen: Minister accuses US of blocking war crimes probe

Yemeni Minister of Legal Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mukhtar claimed that US aggression blocked the United Nations Security Council and International Criminal Court (ICC) from mounting a ‘war crimes’ investigation into the Dahyan bombing, at a press conference in Sana’a on Monday.

Al-Mukhtar, Minister of Legal Affairs (Arabic): “We affirm that the signs of the crimes of aggression and the misinterpretation of the assisting countries, led by the United States of America, are due to the failure of the aggression to break the will of the Yemeni people and the steadfastness of its army and its popular committees in all fields of confrontation. We, in the Republic of Yemen, recognise that it is impossible for the Security Council to adopt a resolution to refer war criminals to the International Criminal Court. We also recognise the difficulty of adopting a decision by the Council to form an international commission of inquiry, because of the American role in the aggression against our country.”
