USA: 12 arrested in Chicago Labour Day anti-violence protest

Police arrested 12 activists who were attempting to block Chicago’s Kennedy expressway near O’Hare International Airport on Monday, as part of an anti-violence protest held on Labour Day.

Protesters sought to draw attention to the city’s gang violence epidemic. They called on Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s to step down, and demanded more investment be funnelled into neighbourhoods where shooting occurs.
