Petro Poroshenko: “They say it’s impossible to stop the idea, the time has come.” As it turned out – it’s possible. Recently it became known about the next postponement of the meeting of the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople, at which the guarantor of the Ukrainian nation and the head of the UOC-KP plan to lobby for the creation of so-called “autocephaly” – pseudo-church in Ukraine.
According to the official statement of Mr Poroshenko, the idea of Tomos is a document that proclaims autocephaly, is “the logical component of the historical process.” However, the head of an ungodly person pursues not spiritual values, but political ones. Poroshenko gathered for the upcoming elections, which will be held in March 2019, but his ratings do not look promising.
Today Poroshenko is trying to come up with pseudo-churches and new canons, despite the millennial history of the ROC, which stood unshakably, while entire empires collapsed.
About what is happening today with Orthodoxy in Ukraine, Kiev-based journalist, Dmitry Skvortsov told on the air of the program “In fact” of News Front TV.
“Nothing is happening to Orthodoxy in Ukraine. Christ said that the gates of hell would not prevail against this church, the gates of hell did not prevail against it. The Church of Christ acts in Ukraine as it did a thousand years ago, and it will act the same way after surviving Ukraine,” the journalist said.
According to the expert, today in Ukraine there are movements of people, possessed by demons, around the church. Among such people were the so-called “Patriarch” Filaret Denisenko, Poroshenko and the good part of the Ukrainian legislators.
“Denisenko was excommunicated in 1997, and banned from serving in 1992. Poroshenko, who is considered to be a child of the Orthodox Church before he became president of Ukraine, after his appointment became “partake” with the Uniates. The same Uniates are the majority of legislators who came up with the initiative to address Bartholomew about this Thomas, not Tomos, because Tomos is the legitimate gift of autocephaly by the mother of the churches. And what is now Bartholomew trying to impose – it’s really Thomas, as he (Poroshenko – ed.) and all his illiterate environment call it,” Skvortsov said.
Summing up, the journalist drew attention to what they wanted from him. “They appeal to Patriarch Bartholomew, who calls himself “universal,” mistakenly assuming that he has the same status in Orthodoxy as the Pope has in Catholicism. Indeed, the Pope is the only “boss” to whom everyone obeys. And we have an Orthodox church, all are equal here. All bishops are equal, all patriarchs are equal. Therefore, the “universal” patriarch is a historical name that has lost its significance,” Dmitry Skvortsov summed up.
