Secretary-General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah attacked the US on Sunday during a televised address in Hermel of Beqaa Governorate, repeating claims of a supposed chemical plot being used as a pretext for US military action in Syria.
Nasrallah claimed US’ action is “to prevent the regime and state of Syria from completing the liberation of its territory in the face of what has been considered in the Security Council of the United Nations as the most terrorist organisation in the world,” referring to the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL).
The speech marked the anniversary of the separate victories of the Lebanese Army and Hezbollah over militants in the country’s northeastern outskirts last summer.
