The Syrian government, acting with the active participation of the Russian side, provides assistance to refugees for their safe return to places of pre-war residence in the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic. But the West is on the way to this process.
At the meeting of the interdepartmental coordination headquarters for the return of refugees to Syria, participants discussed the actions of individual Western countries and the UN, which are trying to impede this process. Recall that since September 30, 2015, 237,370 Syrians have returned to the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, and 1,2199,390 internally displaced persons have returned to their homes. Only for one last week four houses were restored, kindergarten, school, bakery and electrical substation started functioning.
Faisal Mikdad, Deputy Foreign Minister of Syria, noted that the country’s authorities undertake to provide every returning citizen of the country with food, medicines and all the necessary social services, as well as provide temporary accommodation for those refugees whose houses are destroyed.
“We see that the real reason for the demands put forward by Western countries against the government of Syria on the return of refugees is not concern for ordinary Syrians, but the desire to achieve political concessions, fulfill the will of the West and realize their infernal plans against Syria and its people,” – said the diplomat, stressing that neither Syria nor its partners intend to yield to blackmail.
