Tens of thousands took to the streets of Caracas on Monday, in support of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, following a drone attack against the country’s leader.
Demonstrators marched with the slogan “there’s Maduro for a while” while waving national flags.
According to the Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry, a probe launched to investigate the attack suggested it might be traceable back to the United States and Colombia.
Maduro survived the apparent assassination attempt while giving a speech at a military event in the capital on Saturday.
Seven National Guard soldiers were injured after explosions interrupted Maduro during a speech to mark the 81st anniversary of the Bolivarian National Guard of Venezuela. Maduro and other government members were unharmed in the attack.
“Do not doubt that behind this attempt is the Colombian oligarchy. Do not doubt that behind this attempt is American imperialism. We annoy them. They hate us. They hate us. But they will not be able to do it with us here.”
