Iraq: Explosion kills, wounds three in Central Kirkuk

At least one person was killed and two more were wounded after an improvised explosive device exploded in the neighborhood of Wasit in central Kirkuk overnight on Tuesday, police said.

Local police told Kurdistan 24 that the explosion occurred at around 11:30 pm local time, also identifying the killed man as Yasser Jalal.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Islamic State (IS) which has been a great threat to most parts of Iraq in the past few years, is highly suspected to behind the incident.

However, the security forces have already launched an investigation into the incident, according to the news agency.
