The UN structures in concern as well as leaders of Western countries demostrate their readiness for cooperation. Andrej Mahecic, the Official representative of the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, expressed readiness of the agency to cooperate with Russia on the return of refugees. The German Ministry for Foreign Affairs officially supported efforts of the Russian leadership to address humanitarian challenges in Syria.
He noted the positive impact of the activities of diplomats on the overall course of the return of refugees to Syria. Colonel-General recalled that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman al-Safadi held a telephone conversation and discussed the possibility of future joint efforts to assist the republic in its post-conflict reconstruction, including the speedy return of Syrian refugees to their homes.
