Trump threatens Iran after Rouhani warned him not to “play with the lion’s tail”

US president has reacted to recent Iranian president’s remarks, saying that not to threaten the United States.

Donald Trump threatened Iran with hardship “the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered before”.

Trump’s pugnacious tweeter message in all capital letters late Sunday came after Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned him not to “play with the lion’s tail” after the US unveiled a series of measures which amount to a declaration of war.

The escalation in rhetoric came as the Trump administration has launched an offensive of speeches and online communications meant to foment unrest and help pressure Iran to end its nuclear program, according to US officials familiar with the matter.

President Rouhani said on Sudan that the US should know that peace with Iran will be the mother of all peace while war with the country will be the mother of all wars.
