Ali Akbar Velayati, senior adviser to the Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, talked about Iran’s presence in Syria and Iraq, the JCPOA, US and Israel’s actions in the Middle East during an exclusive interview in Moscow on Thursday.
“Our strategic policy in the region is the helping of the people of region including the people of Iraq, Syria and Lebanon,” he said adding that Israel’s standpoint towards the Iranian policy in the Middle East does not concern Iran.
Velayati expressed Iran’s objection to the US presence in the region pointing out that its only mission there is the “creation of terrorist groups.”
Talking about the JCPOA nuclear deal, he said that “the European countries should compensate what we have lost after the withdrawal of the United States illegally from this agreement.”
