Latvia refuses to bow to Trump’s demands to increase defense spending up to 4%

Latvia will  not follow US President Donald Trump call to increase their defense spending to 4% GDP instead of 2% says Latvian PM Maris Kucinskis.
Kucinskis added that Trump’s claims of insufficient investment in defense are irrelevant and Riga does not concider the increase necessary.
PM also stressed that Latvia is one of the countries spending two percent of it’s GDP on defense.
Earlier, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics said more investment is needed to strengthen NATO and EU capabilities.
