NATO official expresses desire for Armenia’s accession

The representative of the staff of the NATO Secretary General James Appathurai has expressed this opinion explaining that the alliance needs to deepen relations with Armenia, especially in carrying out reforms.

“I am unreservedly confident that after our power change in Armenia our stable cooperation will continue,” Appathurai said on the air of the Radio Liberty.

“First of all, I would like to note that we sent a congratulatory message to the new Prime Minister, and I believe that Armenia intends to continue the strong cooperation established with the NATO for many years. We welcome Armenia’s contribution to peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan and the Western Balkans. Armenia really played a very important role, and we recognize it, “the NATO representative said.

As it was informed earlier, the North Atlantic Alliance summit will be held next week, which Nikol Pashinyan intends to visit .

“Yes, the Prime Minister of Armenia will participate in the summit, and although I do not know for sure, I hope that he will also have an opportunity to exchange views with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg,” James Appathurai said.

“We would like to continue to support Armenia and the reforms launched by the new authorities,” he said.
