Hundreds of coal miners, war veterans and industry workers have gathered in front of Ukrainian Rada building demanding the authorities to pay off debts on salaries and allocate financial assistance to coal enterprises.
The protesters chant: “Salary!”, “Budget!”, “Shame!”, Holding posters with the requirements: “Stop destroying the coal industry” and “We demand funds for the development of coal mines.”
As the head of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine Mikhail Volynets writes on his page in the social network, in the industry at the moment a critical situation has developed.
“Arrears in wages to miners of state mines are 761.1 million hryvnia. More than half of this amount is the debts of the miners of Donetsk region – 400.58 million hryvnia. At the same time, the salary debt to the miners of SE “Selidovugol” has already grown to 186.7 million hryvnia. This is the situation in all state-owned coal enterprises, “Volynets explains.
The protesters demand from the people’s deputies to pass a bill that presupposes the allocation of financial state support to the mines.
