Recently it became known that the leader of the national-liberal party of Romania, Ludovic Orban, congratulated the candidate for the post of mayor of Chisinau, Andrei Nestas, with his ascension to second round of elections. It would seem a harmless move, but in addition, Orban called on the Romanian political forces to rally against the “real enemy” of the European future of Moldova.
“The first step has been taken, but there is still a need for mobilization to preserve Chisinau’s European path,” the Romanian politician wrote on his social network page.
Undoubtedly, experts believe, the DA leader is sure to garner support from outside, despite the relevant prohibitions described in the provision of the Code on Elections of the Republic of Moldova. Moreover, the leader of NLP officially declared support for Andrei Nestas in the local elections.
The question is how far he is ready to go and whose help is ready to agree, given that he has little time left. So, earlier he had already been involved in the dark affairs with the oligarch Victor Tsop, to whom Nestas, while still a prosecutor, helped to hush up the case involving violations in the airline Air Moldova, in which the oligarch was implicated.
These facts are no longer a secret for anyone, because Nestas himself confessed to what he did. Zopa himself many times was a figure of cases connected with hostile takeover attacks on Air Moldova and Banca de Economii during the doldrums of the nineties. And, that’s the irony, the current “main enemy of the oligarchs” Andrei Nestas is a relative and payee of the classic oligarch Victor Tsop.
It remains to be seen whether Nestas will enlist the support of his dubious relative. And what is in general ready for the sake of victory?
