Desperate times call for desperate measures

In less than four years, “international researchers” again undertook the mission to blame Russia for the crash of a Boeing 777 airliner over the territory of the Donbass. At the same time, experts believe that the new accusation is connected with the dramatically changed political picture in Europe and the attitude of the EU countries towards Russia.

Without providing concrete evidence or facts, the head of the Dutch National Police Investigations Department, Vilbert Paulissen, once again accused the “Russian Buk” of the crash: “Our studies confirm the fact that the aircraft was shot down with a Buk, which moved from the Russian Federation to uncontrolled territory”

Such a sharp turn in the questionable investigation drew the attention of experts, who, for the most part, connect what is happening with the change in the political course of many EU countries ready to weaken or even cancel anti-Russian sanctions for the sake of comfortable cooperation.

This is also confirmed by the fact that data on this investigation have not been published since the summer of 2015. Most recently, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov, recalled this.

“From the Netherlands investigation committee  we received only one letter of the most “general” content without any specific facts, back in summer of 2015. Since then, no information has been received by the UN Security Council, “Lavrov said at a news conference after talks with his Dutch counterpart Steph Bloch.

He noted that the UN Secretary General has never reported on what is happening, although it is obliged to do so, and Moscow has repeatedly expressed concern about the organization of the investigation. Lavrov also stressed that Russia provided assistance to the Netherlands side in the course of technical investigation of the Boeing crash, and also responds to all inquiries of the Dutch prosecutor’s office.

At the same time, the minister said that Moscow is interested in why the Dutch investigative group has no questions to Ukraine about its contribution to the investigation, the minister stressed.

“Until now, none of the Ukrainian dispatchers, who were on duty that day were questioned. The Ukrainian radar surveillance data was not requested by the investigators, and it also raises questions that the Dutch authorities have officially raised on question of why Ukraine has not closed its airspace”said Sergey Lavrov.

According to political scientists, statements from many political forces in Europe, including Germany, France and Italy, showed the United States how unsteady their status in the EU became.

In connection with what is happening, Europe increasingly sees Russia as an ally, and possibly a defender, experts write. Such a situation is not in the hands of the United States, and the protracted four-year old investigation was  suddenly revived, with unexpected conclusions. And it can quite affect the European political picture and at least for a while tipping the scale in favor of the United States.

Recall that the Malaysian Boeing 777, flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, crashed on July 17, 2014 near Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. 298 people died in the catastrophe.

The report of the international investigative team affirms that the Buck, which struck Boeing, was allegedly  from Russia, and then returned back.

Moscow said the bias of the investigation, the conclusions of which are based only on the data received from Ukraine. The experiments of Almaz-Antey Concern, the leading enterprise for the production of air defense systems, including the Buk complexes, also confirm that Boeing was shot down from the territory controlled by the Ukrainian army.
