Civilians in Manbij went on a general strike and closed shops and trade centers to oppose the SDF’s forced recruitment of young men in the region.
The SDF further stormed the civilians and arrested a number of them that had joined the sit-in.
The US-backed militias later broke the locks of shops and commercial centers.
Local sources reported that increasing rage has covered Manbij region following the SDF’s forced recruitment and confiscation of almost 200 houses from the people.
The Arabic-language Baladi news website affiliated to the dissidents reported on Saturday that the SDF, supported by the US, looted the artifacts in Manbij in organized operations.
It added that the SDF blocked the roads leading to Sheikh Aliq’s tomb in the Center of Manbij after finding a large number of historical monuments in the region.
According to the report, the SDF discovered several historical statutes and golden artifacts belonging to the Roman era and transferred them to Kobani in Eastern Aleppo.
They had also earlier found other historical artifacts in Byzantine graveyard in front of al-Sana’ah district, al-Hal market, historical Najm castle, Hirbole temple and several other graveyards.
Manbij, located in Eastern Aleppo, has a large number of historical monuments and artifacts belonging to the Ancient Roman era.
