Slovakia: Anti-govt protesters demand new election in wake of journalist’s killing

Protesters gathered in central Bratislava, Friday, to call for a new election in the wake of the killing of journalist Jan Kuciak and his fiancee Martina Kusnirova.

The political crisis sparked by the killings has already resulted in the resignation of Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico and Interior Minister Robert Kalinak.

Kuciak and Kusnirova were found shot dead on February 25. Kuciak had been investigating alleged relationships between the Italian mafia and people working in Fico’s office. Slovaks are saying the government has failed to tackle corruption previously and now demand a serious reconstruction of the government.
