Car bombing kills 2 soldiers, 4 people in S. Afghanistan

At least two Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and four civilians were killed in a car bombing in Afghanistan’s southern Helmand province on Saturday, said an official.

The spokesman for 512th Maiwand Military Corps, Maj. Abdul Qadir Bahadurzai told media that the bombing took place near ANA third brigade in the Loy Bagh locality of Nad Ali district in Helmand.

The official confirmed that two ANA soldiers and four civilians were killed while three soldiers and seven civilians were injured in the attack.

Taliban rebels claimed responsibility of the car bomb attack saying that a number of security personnel had been killed in the bombing.

Earlier on Thursday, at least 14 ANA soldiers were killed in an attack on the security check post by Taliban rebels in Afghanistan’s northern Kunduz province.

The attack came at a time when the Afghan authorities are tasked to register up to 14 million adults at more than 7,000 polling centers for the parliamentary and district council elections scheduled for October 20.
