The meeting between the President of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon and the leader of the Transnistrian region, Vadim Krasnoselsky, is viewed differently by political analysts.
During the conversation, Moldovan President Dodon drew attention to the need to strengthen efforts for the real provision of free movement of people between the two banks of the Dniester. At the same time, Igor Dodon noted that the topic of the joint peacekeeping mission on the Dniester was being discussed, “as a guarantee of peace and security of citizens,” since the mission, in his opinion, is an important element of the political dialogue.
Political scientist Boris Shapovalov said during the “The Main Question” broadcast on the NTV Moldova TV channel that President Igor Dodon and the leader of the Transnistrian region, Vadim Krasnoselsky, realize the importance of seeking a compromise. According to him, the Transdniestrians understand that their future depends on the parliamentary elections, which will be held at the end of the year in the Republic of Moldova. “If the normal majority comes to power, with logical thinking, with a good development program of the country and with a normal attitude towards the Russian Federation, respectively, in resolving the Transnistrian conflict, then everything can change positively, and if the current Unionist majority remains in power, the tension will continue, “Dodon said.
Political analyst Roman Miheesh believes that the Russian Federation helped President Igor Dodon to meet with Vadim Krasnoselsky because Moscow is interested in improving relations between the Moldovan authorities and the Tiraspol administration. “This applies to schools with teaching in Romanian, a bridge to Gura Bikului, telephone service, to license plates,” Roman Miheesh said. The analyst believes that this meeting can be assessed as improving the image of President Dodon against the backdrop of the achievements of the government, which has achieved certain successes on the Transnistrian issue.
Lawyer Sergei Mishin, on the contrary, believes that these achievements were achieved not thanks to the government, but thanks to the head of state Igor Dodon, who had previously met with Vadim Krasnoselsky. According to him, the fact that these documents were signed by the government is common, because the executive must deal with the signing of documents.
Recall, on Wednesday, April 25, President Igor Dodon met with the leader of the Transnistrian region Vadim Krasnoselsky in Bendery. During the conversation, the President of Moldova drew attention to the need to strengthen efforts for the real provision of free movement of people between the two banks of the Dniester. At the same time, Igor Dodon noted that the topic of the joint peacekeeping mission on the Dniester was being discussed, “as a guarantee of peace and security of citizens,” since the mission, in his opinion, is an important element of the political dialogue.
