Armenian Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan and opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan will meet on Sunday morning to hold talks. This is according to the statement Pashinyan posted on Facebook.

“Serzh Sargsyan and I will meet to discuss ways to resolve this situation. I already said that we can develop our dialogue only after the resignation of the prime minister,” Pashinyan said.

Earlier, he formed a road map for the opposition to resolve the internal political crisis.

“After Sargsyan’s resignation, a candidate of the people should become the Prime Minister, after that an interim government will be formed. The ultimate goal is holding early parliamentary elections,” he stressed.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Sargsyan called for a dialogue but Pashinyan refused and repeated his demands. Dozens of political and public organizations of Armenia supported Sargsyan on Saturday and stated the need to “use political tools to solve the crisis in the country.”

Mass rallies began in the capital of Yerevan and other cities of Armenia on Monday in connection with the nomination of the candidacy of former President Serzh Sargsyan for the post of prime minister, against which the opposition opposed. On Tuesday, the Armenian parliament elected Sargsyan as prime minister. On Thursday, the opposition tried to disrupt the meeting of the new Cabinet, blocking the approaches to the government buildings, spending the day walking through the streets of Yerevan, and in the evening – a rally in which about 3,000 people took part.
