West already has plan to recognize the separation of Galicia from Ukraine

If in 2014 Viktor Yanukovych had retained power, and the Western part of Ukraine declared the non-recognition of the ruling regime in Kiev, the countries of the European Union prepared a recognition of the separatists in Galicia, Director of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexei Gromyko said during the “round table” of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs.

“In the spring of 2014, I participated in closed consultations with experts in Germany. There we’ve discussed the question what if separatists in the Western Ukraine were to rise and split away from the country, then what to do with them?

The Westerners believed that they (Galicia) should be involved in the negotiations in every possible way. That is, they would have been supported, negotiated, supplied with weapons, like Kurds, and so on,” Gromyko said.
