Stormy Daniels’ former lawyer provides records to feds investigating Cohen

An attorney who previously represented two women who have claimed they had an affair with President Trump more than a decade ago is cooperating with a federal investigation into Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen.

The New York Times reported Saturday that Keith Davidson, who previously represented adult film star Stormy Daniels, was contacted by federal authorities after they raided Cohen’s office and home in New York earlier this month.

“Mr. Davidson was asked to provide certain limited electronic information. He has done so and will continue to cooperate to the fullest extent possible under the law,” a spokesman for Davidson told The New York Times.

Davidson represented Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal. Both women claim they had an affair with Trump and were later paid to remain quiet about their respective encounters.

Federal agents reportedly seized documents from Cohen earlier this month related to payments to both women. The president’s lawyer is said to be under investigation for bank fraud and campaign finance law violations.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, claims Cohen paid her $130,000 as part of a nondisclosure agreement. She has filed a lawsuit claiming the agreement is void because Trump never signed it, and is suing Cohen for defamation.

McDougal sued American Media Inc. after the company paid her $150,000 for the rights to the story of her affair with Trump, only to suppress the information. The two reached a settlement agreement earlier this week.

McDougal’s current lawyer, Peter Stris, told MSNBC that they might take further legal action against Cohen and Davidson for allegedly deceiving her into selling her rights to AMI.
