Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandrokovic interrupted his visit to Serbia on April 18 due to an incident in the Serbian parliament. The chairman of the Serbian Radical Party Vojislav Sesel has trampled on the Croatian flag, while rudely insulting participants of the Croatian delegation.
Official Belgrade condemned Sesel’s act. The chairman of the Serbian parliament, Maya Gojkovic, called such behavior “unacceptable.” President Alexander Vučić said that Sesel spoiled the “face” of Serbia and regretted the return of the Croatian delegation.
“I, as President, condemn all kinds of violence, taunting and arson of the flag of Croatia and any sovereign state,” Vučić said.
Croatian Prime Minister Andrei Plenkovic said that his country will continue the dialogue with Belgrade and intends to build friendly relations with neighboring countries.
The opening of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce in Serbia, for which the delegation arrived in Belgrade, took place despite the incident.
