Some 1,500 policemen were deployed across Germany to raid facilities with alleged human traffickers and their victims, resulting in at least 100 arrests across the country on Wednesday, according to North Rhine-Westphalia federal police.
In Siegen, police were seen escorting women out of raided houses.
Jens Floren from the police press office reported that over 62 residential buildings, “mainly brothels and massage parlours” were searched during the operation.
He also noted that the detainees include “the main perpetrator.”
The operation is being dubbed the ‘largest of its kind’ in Germany in decades.
