President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the US will continue to pressure North Korea until it denuclearises, during a press conference with Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
Trump said that “our campaign of maximum pressure will continue until North Korea will denuclearise”. He added that if the expected meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jung Un “is not fruitful, I will respectfully leave the meeting”.
Trump announced on March 8 that he had accepted an invitation to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in May. The meeting will be the first of its kind between an American president and the leader of North Korea.
