Hundreds of people gathered in the central squares of the cities of Iraq, waving Syrian and Iraqi flags on Sunday, demonstrating their support for the Syrian people. Some protesters also burned US flags.

Hundreds of people gathered in dozens of Iraq cities, waving Syrian and Iraqi flags on sunday, in a demonstration of support for the Syrian people.

“Stop destroying Syria just as you destroyed our country”, chanted the crowd in reference to US operations in Irraq circa 2003. Participants also shouted “No to American bombing of Syria”

The Western Coalition has struck Syria with a massive missile attack on Sunday’s early morning, in response to alleged “chemical attack” in city of Douma, which a number of western leaders blamed on Syrian president Bashar Assad. Syria, which completed it’s disarmament in 2014 denies these allegations.

Iraq government also expressed their concern over the US-led airstrikes, noting it could leave ISIS with “a chance to recuperate and regroup”.
