Al-Rahman Corps declares end of resistance in Eastern Ghouta

After the liberation of the Ein Tarma Valley by government troops, the position of Al-Rahman Corps in the city of the same name became catastrophic. The divisions of the 4th Mechanized Division besieged this suburb of Damascus from all sides, squeezing the encirclement ring.

This morning the Syrian army began the assault on the settlement. With the support of armored vehicles, the army broke through the defense of the insurgents on the southeastern flank, seizing the military transport base where the militants converted military vehicles and several nearby houses.

Soon the army advanced to the center of the city, capturing the militant command center. In addition, the Syrian military occupied a network of underground tunnels, which were used by the militants to quickly transfer their troops to the threatening sectors of the front.

The leader of the Islamists, captain Abdel Naser Shamir, officially addressed the government through the Russian military to conclude a ceasefire agreement, and a corresponding statement was issued.

It refers to the halt of all operations against the Syrian army from 12:00 AM (Damascus time) on March 23 and proposes to begin peace negotiations with the government through the mediation of the Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in the Syrian Arab Republic.
