The suspect behind a recent spate of bombings in the Texan capital of Austin blew himself up after authorities started to close in, the city’s police department confirmed on Wednesday.
Officers pursued a vehicle in the city of Round Rock, central Texas, before the driver detonated a bomb, killing himself and causing the officers to open fire.
Austin police urged city residents as well as those in the neighbouring communities to “remain vigilant” to suspicious packages, since police don’t know “where this suspect has spent his last 24 hours”.
