Survey: Nearly a third of Polish citizens want the country to leave the EU

Almost a third of Polish citizens want the country to leave the European Union, according to the results of a sociological survey conducted by the Kazimir Pulawski Foundation.

According to the poll, 29.81% of Poles are for the exit of the republic from the European Union. 47.37% of respondents adhere to the opposite opinion, another 22.82% said they do not have an opinion on this topic. The study was conducted twice – in January and March, 50 thousand people took part in it.

However, in the case of sanctions against the EU by Poland, the percentage of Polexit supporters will increase to 32.05%, the study notes. In such a situation, 28.55% of respondents would prefer that Warsaw change its policy, adapting it to the requirements of the European Commission. Another 13.15% of respondents believe that in this situation, no action should be taken. 26.25% of respondents found it difficult to express their opinion on this issue.

The relatively high percentage of Polexit supporters, according to the authors of the study, is due to the high assessment that the respondents give to the foreign policy of the Polish government. Good or very good is estimated by 41.79% of Poles (21.57% and 20.22% respectively). A neutral assessment of the work of the Polish Foreign Ministry is held by 26.02% of the respondents. Poor or very bad foreign policy activity of the country was assessed by 32.19% of respondents (15.67% and 16.52% respectively).
