In the trial for a cruel murder in Freiburg, the court announced on Thursday the verdict: The defendant, Hussein K., who in 2016 raped and killed student Maria L., will remain behind bars lifelong.
After long trial, the Freiburg court sentenced Hussein K. to the maximum penalty. Although there were doubts as to whether the defendant should be treated for adult criminal law, after several tests and also information from acquaintances and even the father of Hussein was clear: The murderer of Freiburg was 15 years younger. Thus, his alleged act did not fall under the Juvenile Law.
On Thursday morning, the Judge Kathrin Schenk announced the verdict: Hussein K. must remain in prison for life under adult criminal law. The judges determined the particular severity of the guilt. A preventive detention was also provisionally imposed on the native Afghani.
Even before the murder in Freiburg K. had attempted to kill a woman in Greece. Only by luck she has survived but got seriously injured. Before Greek investigators, he said surprising thing: “It was only a woman.”
