Draft budget-2018: US allocates $ 200 million for military assistance to Ukraine

The US Congress allocates $ 200 million for military assistance to Ukraine, including lethal weapons. This is stated in the draft budget of the US for the 2018 financial year, distributed in the Congress after preliminary approval by Republicans and Democrats.

The funds are allocated to the Pentagon in coordination with the State Department for expenses including “defensive lethal weapons”, military training, logistics, support in the field of reconnaissance and replacement of weapons previously provided by the United States.

At the same time, certain restrictions are imposed – for example, it is forbidden for Ukraine to transfer portable MANPADS.

Both chambers of Congress have time until Friday’s expiration in order to accept the budget and not leave the federal government without funding. The budget should be signed by President Donald Trump.
