A group of so-called DREAMers from all over California decided to take advantage of the visit of US President Donald Trump to San Diego, Tuesday, to demonstrate against his policies against the DACA program.
The DREAMers hope to be heard and ask congressmen to listen to the people helping them to regularise the DACA system.
The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is an immigration policy established by the Obama administration to provide an opportunity for certain illegal immigrants who were brought to the US as children to attend college and eventually become permanent citizens of the United States. The beneficiaries of DACA are usually referred as DREAMers.
In September 2017, Trump declared his intentions to scrap the programme, giving only six months to the American Congress to replace it.
More than eight organisations from different parts of California supported this peaceful demonstration that took place in San Diego to show that the Dreamers are united and that it is an important part of the United States and its society.
