Ukrainian cyber-crooks robbed DHL customers for more than 1.5 million euros

Department of Cyber Police of the National Police of Ukraine together with German law enforcers have established the involvement of two Chernivtsi residents in inflicting damage to the clients of the international logistics company DHL for more than 1.5 million euros, according to the website of the agency.

The specified group of citizens of Ukraine from 2013 to 2016 by criminal means received digital package marks (DHL lables), which then resold with significant discounts.

“By accessing the accounts of German mail clients, with the help of previously stolen authorization personal data (including identifiers, passwords, numbers of bank payment cards, their terms of operation), criminals ordered digital package marks in large quantities. Subsequently, the attackers resold these brands with significant discounts of 50-70% of the total cost. Clients were found through advertising on the Internet,” the police said.

In total law enforcement officers documented more than 200 cases of illegal sale of postage packages.
