Syria: First aid convoy enters besieged Eastern Ghouta

The first humanitarian convoy in weeks entered the Damascus eastern suburbs of Ghouta on Monday, delivering food and basic medicines to the Syrian civilians trapped in the rebel-held enclave.

The convoy organised by the United Nations and the Red Cross delivered food for about 27,000 of the 400,000 people living in the embattled area.

It was the first aid delivery to the region since a government military operation to retake the area began last month.
