Moscow accused Washington of “imposing democracy” in 60 countries

The Interim Commission of the Federation Council on the Protection of State Sovereignty and Prevention of Intervention in the Affairs of Russia presented a large annual report on the activities of the US authorities over the past seventy years – from 1946 to 2017.

According to their calculations, the Americans intervened in the affairs of 60 countries, including Russia, at least 120 times.

The senators called the US an absolute and undoubted leader in unlawful actions. The document notes that the White House planned to change the political system in 50 countries at the beginning of the 21st century and hold a global democratic revolution there.

At the same time, the Federation Council indicates that often the intervention in the internal affairs of others was undertaken by the US authorities to solve their own internal political tasks, including the inter-party contest of Democrats and Republicans for the presidency.

The upper house of parliament also noted that since the middle of the last century, US politicians have publicly substantiated their inalienable right to intervene everywhere in the sovereign affairs of others. In support of their words, the senators quoted US Presidents Harry Truman and David Eisenhower.

Moreover, the senators do not exclude that gross provocations, including those involving the use of cyberattacks, are possible in the time remaining on the eve of the presidential elections in Russia and on March 18, 2018 itself.

The report also refers to the fact that in the course of the election campaign, the import of cash from abroad increased. The document notes that signals about increasing the flow of money come from virtually all federal districts of Russia – from Kaliningrad to the Far East.

According to the authors of the report, Washington, in particular with the use of the possibilities of its diplomatic and consular presence in Russia, has recently been actively working on collecting information on the mood of voters in Russia, their perceptions of the socio-economic situation, and assessments of the consequences of economic sanctions.
