EU ambassadors agreed to extend sanctions against Russian citizens, companies for six months

Ambassadors of 28 EU countries agreed on Wednesday to extend for six months restrictive measures against 150 citizens and 38 Russian companies.

“The EU ambassadors today agreed on the extension of the sanctions for six months,” the source said. According to the diplomat, now this decision must be formally approved by the EU Council, after which it will be published in the Official Journal of the Community and will come into force.

In March 2015, EU leaders at the planned summit linked the decision to lift sanctions against Russia with the full implementation of the Minsk agreements. Now, the extension of restrictive measures takes place on this formal basis, without debate, which side is sabotaging the implementation of the agreements.
