Italy: Naples anti-fascist counter-demonstration ends in clashes

Activists from the Italian anti-fascist movement clashed with riot police in Naples on Sunday, following their protest against a meeting held by far-right political party CasaPound. The protesters set off flares and smoke bombs before encountering a police cordon close to the Ramada Hotel, where CasaPound Vice-President Simone di Stefano was speaking to party members. After a brief stand-off, riot police charged protesters using shields and truncheons. About 25 anti-fascist activists were detained for questioning.
