The Western Balkans, claiming to join the European Union, will not be able to join the EU until Slovenia and Croatia resolve the problem with the border, EC President Jean-Claude Juncker said.
“Against the background of this problem, the accession of new countries of the Western Balkans (to the EU) can not happen until the dispute over the border is resolved,” Juncker told the European Parliament in Strasbourg. According to him, “one can not continue to assert that the problem will be resolved after accession.”
As for Serbia, legal reforms are required from it, and, with a new “urgent” note for European documents, an agreement on the normalization of relations with Kosovo. Moreover, the EU is considering the possibility of adopting this self-proclaimed republic as a separate “state”.
