The hacker group Fancy Bears published documents of the Olympic Committee of Canada, which speak of a positive doping test of the pole vaulter Sean Barber. As a result of the test, traces of cocaine were found in his body, however, disqualification after that did not follow and he went to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where he took 10th place.
The athlete was not removed because he explained the traces of cocaine during the testimony by contacting a prostitute. The committee decided to recognize him as innocent and concealed a positive doping test, but the public still found out about this story.
According to the information of hackers, the president of the IOC Thomas Bach called this story the state’s intervention in the sport, and also said that Canada does not differ from Russia in matters of concealing doping.
At the same time, numerous sanctions were imposed on Russia, including the removal of the entire team from the 2018 Olympics. The corresponding decision was taken at a meeting of the organization’s executive committee on December 5, 2017.
