Following the liberation of Marhamiyah, Uwaynat Kabirah, Mash and Tal Mash in southern Aleppo, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Iranian-backed militias continued their advance on positions of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) in the area. Pro-government forces attacked the militants’ positions in Ziyarah, al-Hayniyah and Abdat ash-Shaykh. Clashes also erupted near Tarfawi.
The goal of the SAA advance in the area is to reach positions of the Tiger Forces near the Abu al-Duhur airbase. Should the SAA achieve this goal, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and ISIS will be encircled in their zone of control in northeastern Hama/eastern Idlib.
