Former Catalan President Carles Puigdemont met with deputies from the pro-Catalan independence Junts per Catalunya party in a Brussels hotel on Friday, in the first group meeting since the December 21 Catalan elections.
Junts per Catalunya agreed with the pro-independence Catalan Republican Left party on Wednesday to try to re-elect Puigdemont as regional leader, reportedly raising the hypothesis of the former leader governing by video link from Belgium. The request came after pro-independence parties won a narrow majority in the Catalan parliament after the December 21 elections.
